Heraldic furs

There are a number of colours representing furs in heraldry, but only a couple of them are in common usage.

       
Ermine black spots on white, representing tails    
Ermines white spots on black    
Vair blue and silver representing grey squirrel skins    
Counter Vair As vair but alternate lines are inverted    
Vair en point As counter vair but the alternate inverted lines are offset    
Pean Gold spots on black    
Potent Blue T shapes on white    
Counter Potent As Potent but alternate lines are inverted
